Promethium is growing our world-class team, and we’re looking for a pre-sales Quantum Chemistry Application Scientist to join our team. This role will focus on driving new customer adoption by effectively demonstrating Promethium’s value through scientific and technical expertise. The ideal candidate will work closely with Sales team members to showcase real-world use cases, deliver product demonstrations, and uncover both stated and latent customer needs.

This remote-first role reports to the Director of Customer Success and requires travel. Hybrid options are available in Palo Alto, CA.

Responsibilities

Role

Pre-Sales & Customer Engagement

Lead technical demonstrations and showcase real-world use cases in the Promethium platform.
Compare and contrast Promethium with competitive computational chemistry tools.
Collaborate with Sales to identify customer requirements and position Promethium as the optimal solution.
Facilitate a seamless transition of new customers from pre- to post-sales within the Customer Success team.
Ensure long term customer success through use of Promethium.

Sales Enablement & Product Strategy

Collaborate with Marketing, Product, Engineering, and Chemistry teams to develop a market-driven road map that reflects real-world customer needs.
Bring the "voice of the customer" to internal teams, influencing product enhancements and sales strategies.
Contribute to conference presentations, white papers, and thought leadership to increase Promethium’s industry presence.

Requirements

‍

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in chemistry or related life science field, ideally with experience in computational chemistry as it relates to molecular design.
3+ years experience as an Application Scientist or in a customer-facing technical role.
Substantial experience with computational chemistry in a research or industry setting.
Comprehensive knowledge of drug discovery and materials design workflows and use cases.
Ability to troubleshoot technical issues, think critically, and propose creative solutions on time.
Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python.
A bias for action and an accountability mindset.
Ability to work independently and thrive in ambiguous, fast-paced environments.
Exceptional analytical, organizational, and project management skills.
Strong verbal/written communication and interpersonal skills.

Nice-to-Have Qualifications

Ph.D. in Theoretical or Computational Chemistry or similar field.
Familiarity with quantum chemistry software and high-performance computing.
Experience with APIs and integrating scientific software with external tools.
Experience in a startup or startup-like environment.

Compensation

Base Salary‍

$120,000-$160,000 per year plus participation in the QC Ware corporate bonus program.

This can vary by location. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, competencies, experience, market demands, internal parity, and relevant education or training.
